Gestation period

Featured Replies

Gestation means,  "The period of development in the uterus from conception until birth; pregnancy."  I don't know that this would be the proper terminology used for bass...???? :-/

Bass do not have a gestation period because they carry no live or growing fish inside them, just eggs or sperm.  The reproduction period is called the spawn.  As for how long it takes bass to hatch from the eggs, it can be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, depending on water temperature.  The male largemouth bass will then watch the fry for another week to a month....and then they're off on their own.

I glanced at this topic and thought it meant time for food to pass through through the body, that would be "di Gest".

However definition 2.  Gestation: The conception and development of a plan or an idea in the mind.

Could be my planning on Spring Bass fishing. Right now I'm in the gestation stage.
