Caring For Fathead Minnows

Featured Replies

Hello,

MY dad just bought a 50 acre lake recently adn I want to get some minnows to raise for myself to use as baits.  I have a big water trough I am going to put these in.  They are going to e outide but I can not feed them because I will not live with them .  They will be next to the lake.  I would liek to know if they will eat the algae of the bottom of the trough or do I need to feed them?  Also I need to get an aerator( I think) so do you know of some good ones( maybe solar power if made)?  And other supplies I will need to raise these minnows?

Thanks RObert

Why not make a screen cage to partly submerge in the lake, that way you don't have to feed them or worry about water quality in the trough?
