I was recently on the IGFA website and I was looking up some bass records.  Well, I found my state and saw that the line class entries for Largemouth Bass were vacant.  One guy from my state had three bass pending on different line classes.  I can easily top the bass that he submited, so I was thinking about submitting my own fish.  I am 15 and in a couple of years, I would like to start competing in numerous tournaments.  By holding several state line class records, could this get me noticed more and maybe help me acquire some sponsers.  I am looking down the road and would like to know if this is a wise thing to do.  By the way, it is $35 to submit a fish and must also pay the membership fee.

Just one little detail, you will have to fish with IGFA certified line to apply for those records all the time, they are very touchy on that subject, for example: if your line is labeled 6 pounds doesn 't mean it will break at 6 pounds, most manufacturers under rate the breaking point of the line, a 6 lbs line may test 7, 8 or 9 lbs in reality, that simple fact will disqualify your catch. For what I know ANDE and Maxima are IGFA certified lines.

Raul makes an excellent point.  You probably THINK you have broken the line class record but standard commercial lines break at much higher rates.  Also, not all ande lines are IGFA line class. These lines will clearly state they meet IGFA requirements to break at the stated pound test.

Now, get the proper line and go break some records young fella  ;D
