found pond need to find owner.

Featured Replies

I have a pond real close to me. The problem is that i have no clue who the owner is. I have seen people fishing there. So how can i find the owner of the pond? Theres two houses across the road form it. should i knock on there doors? Or should i go up to city hall to find out who owns it?

Go on line to your County's Web site or you can visit the county courthouse. It should be public information.

If it's not posted then don't worry about it.

If it is posted I would knock on one of the doors.

Advice.  Only one person should approach the house.  shave that day.

If there is no posted sighns fish there untill some angry homeowner fires a gun at you. Then fallow them to there home then ask them if you can fish in there lake  ;D ;D ;D

In MS you can be prosecuted for trespassing - posted signs or not.  Here the fine is about $300.00.  So, you better check you local laws if you are going without permission.

I've heard about some states making laws like that.  totally sucks in my opinion.  How are you supposed to know that a lake in the middle of the woods is private property if there nothing to id it as such.

That might work in some places but I wouldn't try here in ky or you might get some lead thrown your way Not Good.   The best way to approach it is get permission if you just go without approval and the owner does show up it will more than likely ruin your chances to fish there agin.  And it is considered trespassing so he could have you charged with it so the best way is the just get permission  JMO

ALWAYS ASK!!!  go up to one of the houses, they may own the lake or know who does.

all they can do is tell ya no you can't fish the lake.

If you find out who the owner is and are going to approach the house, take Avids advice.

Go alone

shave and dress decently

Inspect recycle bin on trash day and see what they drink-show up w/a bottle or case

Have a plastic bag from supermarket in your back pocket in case of the excuse "I let people fish there before and they left trash everywhere", you can explain that nomatter where yougo, youbring a bag foryour trash and the trash others have left behind.

Good luck
