where are all the fish?

Featured Replies

i have been fishing a small 3 acre pond by my house. a couple of weeks ago it seemed like i couldnt do anything wrong when it came to catching the fish. now i cant buy a bite. btu i have also started to see two otters. could they have cleaned out the bass? any help will be appreciated. :o

Get out the rifle! ;D  Well The fish population is probably decreasing, but many other factors come into play.  I used to think the only things that bass wouldent bite for was because of the weather or if they were spooked, but i learned a ton more watching bill dance.  I learned that, weather, oxygen levels, baitfish supply, temp of the water, post spawn, bait size, bait variation, bait scent, and color are just some reasons they might not be biting.  I often fish ponds, and have noticed that people get their "favorite spots", and "favorite baits", but trying to vary in bait size speed, and sometimes scent will help.  Maybe a moderator could give you some better answers, but sometimes they just dont bite.

I dont know where you are, but possibly the bass are in post-spawn and just not very willing to bite right now.......

I don't know about otters, but if you have alot of cormorants they will clean you out pronto

pluse otters are just tooooooooo cute.

3 acres - two otters - you should see evidence if they are eating fish of any size as they will bring them to shore. Yes the otters can put a hurt on your pond.

How long does the post spawn usually last?

The post spawn won't last long.

I would guess it may be your lure and presentation or timing. What lures were you using and what are you using now?The best time when it starts heating up to fish ponds are early in the morning and late in the evening. You probally need to be thinking plastics if you aren't already.
