my concern is spooking the fish when getting my boat in postion in 2 feet of water to cast outward.

and i am using a carolina rig so i dont want to keep the trolling motor on steady the whole time.

do you move into shore say 100 feet down from the area you want to fish and then use a pole to maneuver the boat around in 2 feet of water instead of bumping the trolling motor?

I will assume that you are fishing the c-rig in deep water working into the shallow water you are parked in.  I don't think the trolling motor will be a problem in that case.  Also a c-rig is usually cast a good distance away from the boat so I am thinking you are not targeting the fish next to the boat.

If you are targeting the fish close to the boat in that shallow water I would try to keep the trolling motor on a slow steady speed as much as possible and avoid bumping it on and off all the time.

Another way to do it is stay put anchored and fan cast the C-rig out into ever deeper water around to shallow on the far side of a point. I do that fishing points on most lakes, anchored in a couple feet of water. I rarely see bass cruise there anyway except in pre-spawn. If there's no wind I use a thick cane pole to move the boat if bass are shallow, but prefer to find the ideal spot to stay to fish the whole point.
