What fishing log do you use

Featured Replies

I was wondering what kind of log you use to keep track of your fishing reports during the year? What kind of information do you keep track of?

(Here comes the "logs made of wood" comments from Dink and Avid! ;D)

I use micro soft word and excel

1) Area

2) Cover

3) Structure

4) Weather

5) Time

6) Lure

7) Total fish caught

8) Total keepers

9) Largest

10) With who

I'm trying the BR log this year to see how it works.  Last year I made my own but it didn't work out as good as I think this BR one will.

For about 8 years I participated in the New York State freshwater Angler diary program.

I actually was one of the first Long Islanders to sign on.

But for the past 3 years I use my own log on MS word.

It is very important, not just for fishing conditions. but i also include when I had my equipment serviced and other important info.

PS - It's a log but it's a virtual by-product of a virtual piece of wood.

So, virtually it's just software. Actually.

I knew I'd get a good one from you! ;D

Whatever kind of comment do you mean?  Fisrt of all, my fishing log is very simple.  I try to "root" out any unnecessary info while at the same time "branching" out to variables more subtle than just 'red shad in the buck brush.'  I also include locations and their seasonal timing in order to em"bark" on more fruitful journies in the future.  I "wood" try to include anything that I may deem important the next time I am "pining" for that big sow.  I also keep all journals from years past in a "trunk" so that I may refresh my memory the next time I get "stumped". ;)

Didn't keep one last summer but probably gonna set one up myself on excel and/or word. Probably  use the one here on BR as a starting point.
