Superstitions, Rituals, Etc

I always play that song where the guy sings, "Rain on me" over and over and it has a cool keyboard riff. What is that song called anyway? I only have it on a burned CD.

I agree about the no fish on the first cast thing. That dooms the day. Also, I usually stop at a waffle house and order a steak and eggs, even if it means I'll miss the sunrise on the lake.

Man, no fish on a first cast and fish slime on a rod handle, no cameras, holy shirts you guys are all crazy. I remember 2 yrs ago I caught my biggest smallie that yr on my first cast of the season 4lbs 3ozs. I have no idea where you guys get these crazy ideas...

If I catch a 4 lb plus fish I always drop to my knees and thank GOD.

The rest is up to him.

Being out on the lake when the sunrises is the closest you can get to Heaven unless you're

saved.

The fish are just a bonus.

I always take my shoes off and roll up my pants, then wade knee deep in the water.  Just kinda lookin at the bottom, and baitfish, craws, whatever.  It is amazing what you can tell.  Besides it gives me a minute to think about my tactics for the day, and besides its relaxing, and I always fish better relaxed.

Usually for me what happens is if I fish back to back (day after day), if I tear them up or get really lucky about getting snags out of trees, the next day is a bad day.

Back in October we had a tournament in Potomac river and I fished the pre-fish day and I caught at least 9 bass off of one spinner-bait and the biggest was 4 pounds. The day for the tournament I tried everything I could and only managed to catch 2 bass.

Then on Friday (this past friday!) I went fishing at Lake Anna and I kept getting my lure caught in the trees (fishing near the bank) but luckily with a gentile tug they came out. My boat partner Bert said "John, tomorrow you will have bad luck at that tournament!" (the tournament at Lake Orange!) And sure enough 2 of my rods broke, my fishing partner Randy didn't show up until later (flat tire) and needless to say it rained and the wind was whipping, so I was p'd and went home.

BERT! I am going to get YOU!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Before changing lure I always cast it one more time.

this includes going to the lake with lures used on the previous trip.

Conditions can be completely different.

For instance, last trip was at night and this trip is a bright sunny day.

All lures stay on untill at least "one more cast"

Don't know why.

Superstitions are like that.

Because you know that as soon as you switch lures is when the fish was going to bite the one you had tied in the first place.
