Fishhead Spin

Featured Replies

Last year I caught my biggest bass to date (10.2lbs) fishing a fishhead spin with a little dipper on it. Since then I have fished it a lot more but seem to get short strikes or lose fish after the hook up. I've tried to set the hook harder but I think I rip the bait out of their mouths. Do any of you guys fish these? What trailers do you use (maybe mine's too big for the hook)? I fish them on a baitcaster with 14lb mono, would braid hook up better? Any help is appreciated.

I've used them with pretty decent success. They are killer on schooling bass, especially the spotted bass where I fish. I've tried them in some other situations without much success (around docks, bluff walls, etc.). I use a tiny fluke or fluke jr., with 12lb flouro, and have had no problem with hookups.
