there is a retention pond its not very big it has alot of lilies also grown up brush along the sideds  down the road my dad and me went fishing there and we used some shiner something star ted playing with mine but it ate my shiner so we threw out another and we caught a big mudfish but we can see fish rolling all the time do u think there is bass in there .if u do wat should i use :-/

try a frog or toad style lure.

The fish you seen rolling might have been carp.  As far as baits, I would through a yellow spinnerbait around those lilies, GOOD LUCK!!!

The shiners are an excellent live bait for bass

But why not use some dough balls and ketch ya some big ole carp

Use a plastic worm (Zoom 6-8" Junebug trickworm) using 1/8 ounce bullet weight and Texas rigged. I believe this forum has some tips on how to rig this. Cast just into the pads and work the worm on the bottom. If you feel pressure, a tug, or the line is moving sideways, point the rod in that direction, reel in the slack, and pull back real hard. Work the worm slow with the rod, niot the reel. The reel is only for picking up the slck line when you work the worm. Good Luck

P.S.-The Zoom worms can be bought at Walmart and Junebug is purple with green fleck.

Are you fishing for food?  Were you planning on eating the bass?? ??  There are other species you can fish for that are much better to eat than carp or bass.

i ussally practice catch and release but sometimes i do keep them but not alot rarley. would catching carp expirence me in bass fishing

Carp fishing is more of a cast and wait game where bass fishing is much different in the fact that you are always on the move. You can sit and wait on a carp to swim by, smell your bait and eat it. Bass fishing is different because you are trying to find the fish and swim your lure in front of it in order to get a reaction bite. Bass eat mostly by reaction to a site rather than a smell.

In my opinion, the only experiance carp fishing will give you is learning to land it after the catch.

I do enjoy hauling in a large carp sometimes! It will give your gear a workout too!
