Aerobatic Fish

Featured Replies

Well today I lost what would of been my PB after she jumped from the water to throw my fat ika. A few weeks ago I lost another solid fish on a jump and she threw my jig-n-pig. When a bass jumps from the water, what can you do to help ensure he stays hooked up?

Some people thrust the tip of their rods in the water if they feel the bass coming to the surface. Sometimes if the bass jumps near the boat or bank I swing it onto land/the boat. You will always lose a few bass on the jump, but learning to keep their heads down does help some.

personally I love it when the bass jump, but NOT if I'm hooked into a new pb.

I just now got back from a nearby pond where I lost 2 from jumping.  >:(  Worst part is...I was trying a new lure (Rat-L Trap Blue Streak) on that pond to see how it would work over there and they were striking like never before.

I love it when they take to the air (even the big ones)!!!  If it comes unbuttoned, atleast you know where to catch her next time!!!  :)

Flying fish are fun!! At best all you can do is keep the line as tight as possible

I usally try to keep that line tight.I love watching them jump.If they spit it they win, haha.

I am with everyone else on this one. I love the really active bass that jump. I had one Saturday that looked like it was jumping towards me to attack. lol. I didn't lose that one but have lost more than one to the every tricky jumping bass.
