Im alloways so nerviouse when I go out to the lake without a fish finder.

u see In new to fishing from boat and i dodn't know where to fish in a lake.

are there any helpful tips for me to find fish or lures to find fish

the lake is 106 feet max

In my first 3 boats I did not have a depth finder.  What I did was use a bait that I could fish from the bank to the boat (plastic worm and jig).  I would work an entire area noting the water depth by guessing how long it took the bait to reach the bottom.  

By repetition, I figured out some spots that produced.

I have a fishfinder but only use it to find deep structure.  I mostly fish frrom the bank to the boat.  

I dont have one in my boat(jonboat) but If i did i wouldnt use it very much.  I fish spots that looks like fish would hang out...if I dont get a bite Ill move to the next good looking spot.  If I do use a fish finder its just to see if there's a drop off or point.

Technology is cool, but so is ingenuity.

My ole fishing buddy and I would tie a big jig on and drop it over the side.  We called it "tossing out the humminbird"

It was fun and by golly we managed to catch a bass now and then.  

If it looks like there are bass there. Then it must be fished!
