It's getting hot in here

Featured Replies

It's realy starting to heat up here in Calif. (106* yesterday & 103* today) and I fish some med. sized ponds that are about 25 feet deep at there deepest

I was wondering is the fishinng going to be better in the morning after the water has had a chance to cool down or in the evning after it heated up??? I fish mostly in the miid morning after 8 am

but would be down to fish in the evning :P

they are both great times to fish, heads or tails

Both are good times to hit the pond.  Im on the other half of the country (Pennsylvania to be exact) and all around the country it's starting to get WARM.  The body of water you are describing sounds like the lake i fish.  In the morning, it's cover cover cover near the shore.  As the day progresses start fishing out further from the shore.  And SLOW it down.  Works perfectly for me every time.  Towards the evening hours when the sun starts to set do the reverse.  Start out in the middle, fish slowly and then slowly work your target towards shore cover.  Both real perfect times to fish.  You can still fish during the heat of the day around cover.  Just remember to keep YOURSELF in safety.  Such as wearing and re applying sunscreen, have lots of water with you and have something to EAT.  Your body not only needs H2O but energy too.  Good luck!

I caught my PB, a 9 lber(and many 3-7 lbers) in the middle of the day(1:30 PM) in the heat(100 degrees F) of August in 2005.  I caught it on a steadily moving Matt's Baby Bass in 9' of water where there was 23' of water available.  Bass are cold-blooded and don't necessarily slow down in the summer.  I find most of them more energetic then :).

Both morning and evening are good times, but once it starts getting really hot I do most of my fishing at night. That's not because the fish won't bite in the heat, I'm just not a fan of hot weather.
