Ok here goes= I have a 04 Trition Tr 186 with a Merc. 150 EFI, what I need to know is the weight of the boat, trailer, motor, fishing gear( if full ) 1/2 tank fuel. I am going to buy a new SUV to pull it and I don't want to under size the truck. I am looking at a Hyundai Veracruz, I have a Trailblazer now,but not sure I want another one $$$$$$$. Any help would be great.

Thanks Dan

Go to the Triton web site - they usually give the hull weight and total weight

for each model.

Otherwise, you can go to a weigh station on the interstate.

A feedstore that sells fertilizer will have a scale too.

That was going to be my suggestion.  If no feed store near you, most places that sell rock also have trailer scales.

USCG rating plate is riveted to the inside of your boat some where.   It gives max person and weight load limits.

Your trailer also had a plate attatched to the tongue of the trailer giving you load/weight rating and tire size and tire pressure inflation info.

Its the law for these plates to be on the boat and trailer.

Matt.

Get something with a V8.  Spend a little extra on the truck so you don't have to worry about it.

You can pull your rig successfully with a good-sized V6.  I tow a TR20 with an '05 Tacoma, V6/5spd auto with no trouble whatsoever.  Before you buy, check the tow rating for the vehicle.  I'd want at least a 5000lb rating.  Check the engine stats.  You want an engine that brings max torque at a lower rpm rating.  That's what gets you going.  A decent frame under the vehicle also helps.  There are a lot of so-called SUV's out there that are built on passenger car frames....not the best for towing.  JMO here of course ;)
