Need good advice!

Featured Replies

I have been fishing a 163 acre state run lake in Alabama. About a month ago my friend and I managed to get 40 Bass in 2 days while they were schooling. [avg. fish was around 3.5 lbs] Since then I have caught very few. Right now the lake has been fertilized and the visibility is 12". Water on top is green. Water temp is about 85 deg. 163 acres, deepest place is 42 foot. South end has a small spillway and there is a current toward that end right now. West bank is lined with grass and gets deep fast. Any info on colors, types of bait would be greatly appreciated! Oh yeah. it has lots of slews/points both deep and very shallow. Also has a few places with timber under water on points.

It sounds like you are having a algea bloom on this lake. It is the result of the fertilizer. You need to think of the water as very muddy untill it clears up. The fish will be shallow for the most part and holding tight to cover and structure. Dark or bright, loud lures are the best. Good luck because it is tough to fish any algea bloom.
