  1. Last year while working for Home Depot in Tyler TX I agreed to work 3 overnights in a row so I could fish during the day. While doing the overnights I would take my rod and practice pitching and flipping from the storage buidings with decks/porches on display in the parking lot! That's bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I fish Lake Neely Henry in Gadsden, Al and it is always a murkey green color at best. At worst it is a brownish color. I have caught numerous Bass with a dark colored jig and a yellow spinner bait. Well, a friend of mine and I were on a boat one day and after numerous hours of fishing without any results he managed to pull in a very nice Bass while using a white jig with a white trailer [no rattles] in about 10' of water! Go figure.
  3. I started cranking this year and I'll have to say that from my own experience the Bomber Fat A in the brown craw pattern has put more fish in the boat than any other. Having said that.... they don't make 'em like they used to. I started out using the original color from about 20+ years ago, but I guess the turds that be decided to change the color to a lighter one and I have yet to land anything on them. The older ones were darker and that was my go to in murky conditions. I also should add that for the money you can't beat Norman lures. I am an avid Rapala fan, but I have yet to land anything on a shad rap, but the original floaters are the way to go! The original floaters have landed me Skipjack Herring, Hybrid Stripe, LM Bass, Rainbow Trout, Crappie, White Bass, Yellow Bass, Spotted Bass, big Bream, and Chain Pikeral. If anyone from Bomber is reading this PLEASE make the brown craw like you used to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I can't remember where, but I read once that in a tank test that Bass would eat a crawfish 9 out of 10 times over shad. I guess that's why one of my rods is dedicated to a jig!
  5. Well, so much for a jig bite from that one!
  6. Well, up until a few months ago I never would throw a stickbait. Then after a Rapala floater got me 9 different species of fish [over 100 fish so far] it is one of my go to's. Same goes with crankin. All of my most recent fish have been on a Bomber craw colored crank when worms and jigs weren't doing the trick! This time last year I would have laughed at you if you told me to crank.
  7. I have been fishing a 163 acre state run lake in Alabama. About a month ago my friend and I managed to get 40 Bass in 2 days while they were schooling. [avg. fish was around 3.5 lbs] Since then I have caught very few. Right now the lake has been fertilized and the visibility is 12". Water on top is green. Water temp is about 85 deg. 163 acres, deepest place is 42 foot. South end has a small spillway and there is a current toward that end right now. West bank is lined with grass and gets deep fast. Any info on colors, types of bait would be greatly appreciated! Oh yeah. it has lots of slews/points both deep and very shallow. Also has a few places with timber under water on points.
  8. I can do it with 3/8 oz jigs up under piers by slinging the rod hard on the cast, but keeping my thumb on the spool/line the whole time. Just very light thumb action and a little practice and you'll be there!
  9. Just wondering if anyone on here has bought one? They look awesome in the water and I actually managed to rig a Storm Wildeye Shad to swim like one and had a Bass kill the thing!! Too bad I can't seem to rig it to swim the same way again.
  10. Original floating Rapala in a silver color!Small silver Husky jerks work good as well.Stick to the F-07 and F-09 sizes.I have also caught alot of them on a Devil's horse as well.Big lure, but alot of fish!!!

From what I've heard, good 'ole Bill has around 300 stocked lakes that he uses for his shows and the fish are all fed regularly, but before shooting a show they pretty much stop feeding them so he will always produce fish for the camera.Don't know the source my friend got that from, but it makes sense. Not bashing Bill Dance. He's already proved himself back in the day.Good enough for me,but you have to wonder why my 1987 model "Dance's eel" never made it back then?
  12. Well,I was walking down a creekbank one day last Summer and I managed to spook a crawfish that was hanging out on the edge of the bank. After he saw me he hit the water and was paddling so fast he looked and sounded just like a buzzbait before he sank into the water.I would say that he ran across the top of the water maybe 1-1 1/2 foot before he sank down.
  13. Just wondering how you guys fish them?I have recently started fishing alot of the original floaters with much sucess and tried the jointed and didn't like the movements it made while cranking it.So I thought I would give it another try and while pulling out a backlash I noticed that it was moving amazingly while I was accidentally twitching it.Next cast a Bass missed it knocking it almost a foot out of the water! The next day I went to a spot where I had caught VERY few Bass [all on a jig] and pulled in 3 by fishing it extremely slow and never letting it get below the surface. How about you guys???
  14. I don't know what makes a fish spooky in what given situation, but I have caught 3 Bass from under a pier while wading and tripping over stumps about 5 feet away from it!Go figure and go fish!!!
  15. I kind of feel guilty about pulling in fish when they are on bed,but I always try to get them back in the water ASAP.As for PETA.Well,I guess the more active members can't find a new reality TV show on that they can relate to!Reality shows? We don't see it everyday?OK rant over.GO FISH!!!!!!
  16. I started fishing jigs last Summer and one thing is for sure, everytime you feel a bite get ready to hold on!One thing that helped me was that I put a crawfish in my aquarium and watched what that little fart did all day long and watched how he swam when I would mess with him!

  18. I think that should be "bu yao" Proper Chinese should be "bu xiang", but no one ever says it proper. Whenever I went to the market I always ignored people until I found that one vendor who wasn't interested in ripping me off!
  19. Funny that you mention Gambler. I found out the other day that there is a guy here in my apartment complex that makes lures for them! At least I think it was Gambler [heard from another fisherman here] If I ever meet him I'll file a complaint for you LOL.
  20. Here in Longview, TX we only have one aisle of fishing lures [don't know about the hunting section], but tonight I was in there and the fishing section looked like it could use a good stocking! I could see them not wanting to compete with Academy down the street, but the tackle section should bring them a good margin on what they sell. At the same time they may not be making so much off the tackle due to shrink from shoplifting. If I'm not mistaken, the Loss Prevention associates can not make a shoplifting detention if the value is under $25.00. With that in mind, think about how much tackle people steal and sell at flea markets and on ebay. Big business!!
  21. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the Rapala twitchin Rap? I got one the other day and threw it some, but no luck. Of course I wasn't really expecting to get any bites on it right now. I think it would be a killer Striper bait. Anyone had any luck with it?
  22. I read on a couple of different sites {about crawfish} that when they are mating they will make clicking noises to attract each other. I don't use rattles now, but have in the past. I guess it's about the same for me, but the crawfsh mate is about the same time of year that Bass do if I'm not mistaken. Interesting indeed!!
  23. I have been using an Abu Garcia 2500C for a Jig/Worm setup for a while now. I don't know the year it is as I haven't really paid any attention to it, but I was wondering if anyone here can give me the gear ratios for it? I was considering switching reels, but I love the thing for casting and pitching and hate to give it up. I guess I might feel a little bit guilty for using such an old reel for everyday use, but I love the "round reel" design in such a compact and easy to use form. Thanks in advance.
  24. I have seen some lures that go for anywhere from $60-$80 a piece!!!!! Imagine throwing something like that and hanging it up somewhere!! Can anyone say scuba gear? I myself don't have any, but everyone has some pretty good things to say about them. How much do you spend on beer or tobacco? If I were to buy one it would surely be something that would least likely to get caught on something in the water because I'm cheap!
  25. Will bass go into shallow/warmer water in the daytime during Winter? Let's say the coldest months are no lower than 30-40 degrees. Just curious.
