Help me regain my intrest in fishing

Featured Replies

yo bassakwards,..........terrific picture dude.

Really makes me long for Autumn in New York.

I truly do miss it.

But not the season that follows.  ;)

Thanks for the compliment.  My resizer in photoshop isn't working so the pic is HUGE, sorry about that!

Thats Boulder Colorado in the fall.  That place in the picture has 20 ponds in it.  It's a forest preserve with about 15 of the 20 ponds being fishable.  All the ponds range from 3 to 30 acres and there's absolutely no fishing pressure there.

It's a completely hidden little gem with bass up to 7 pounds in the spring.  I just used Google earth to find at least 10 new ponds for next spring that are all within 10 minutes of my house, all stocked with bass.  I've called Colorado Fish and game, The division of wildlife, and Boulder mountain Parks and open space, to get great info on all of them.  I can't wait for spring!!!!!!!

I've been going through something similar. Not quite sure what it is, or why, but fishing is more frustrating then fun right now.

I can't control the bait monkey, and yet I can't afford EVERYTHING I want, so that alone gets me sad and angry at the same time. Not to mention the fishing hasn't been too reat to keep me really into it.

I've got several new rods in the past few months, and that always helps for a few weeks until the thrill of a new rod runs dry.

I play video games in the winter, it helps me deal with winter, but I know right in spring, i'll be right back at them looking for that first DD.

Goodluck man. Take your time, don't force yourself to fish, it will come back naturally.

I think I can understand what Other is saying. I am sort of getting the same feeling now too. I also feel the same way brokejaw feels, that fishing seems more frustrating than it is fun. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the feeling of hooking into a nice fish. The rush is great, but it seems like the more serious I take fishing, the less fun it gets. Which makes sense. It seems like purchasing hundreds on top of hundreds of dollars worth of equiptment made fishing more like a competition than a fun recreational activity. I always find myself more stressed out when I'm fishing now. Now, instead of having a happy go lucky attitude when fishing, I'm on a mission, to catch those friggin' fish come hell or high water, and it seems to make fishing a chore.

It could also be just fishing the same spots over and over and over. Not having a boat right now really makes this a problem. It seems like fishing the same few spots makes fishing monotonous. I reccommend trying a new pond, or lake, or even just trying to find a couple new spots on a body of water to keep things fresh.

This year fishing was fun for me.I had a great time. Now i got all winter to stock up on one lure at a time.i can spend almost all day at a fishing store just looking around and walk out with only $20 of stuff.Might only be 2-3 lures and some hooks.Just make it a day and have fun...i love fishing as well as collecting a few lures to pass time just don't let it give you a headache then it's no fun.
