Lunker Depth

Featured Replies

I know that most of my question depends on seasonal patterns but I want a general answer. Where have most of your Lunkers been caught as far as water depth goes? 0'-3'? 4'-10'? 10'+? Thanks!

Definitely in the 4' to 10' range.

If someone is a bank beater then 4-10 would be the answer only because that person spends 99% of their time fishing shallow water. If someone is an offshore structure fisherman then your answer will be 10+, only because that's where he spends most of his time. The fact is that you will find lunkers at any depth. I've caught them in 1ft of water and I've hooked them in 45ft of water. It's just a matter of finding that spot. So mix it up a bit and concentrate on how to read structure and how to find those spots on that key structure at verious depths and your success will only increase.

I totally agree. For me, that's off-shore. Less pressure and competition and much more productive - IMO.

id say 0-4 feet im a bank beater and i have sight fished for a few of my lunkers, and also just worked the senko in close and got slamed by a giant

my biggest bass was cough in less than 1ft of water up on a bank. it was a spawner, 6lbs... i fish golf course lakes tho lol
