I got a really good deal on a Castaic T-29 swimbait. Only paid $27.50 !   8-)

How do you guys fish the bait and how deep does it run? Can you keep the lure on top (wake it) while retrieving it real slow?

I have one and they are OK. Definitely not worth $129. They go around $30-$60 or so on the auction site depending on the model color. This swimbait is hit or miss. From what I have read some sink, some suspend and some float. I got one that sinks. Really you won't know what you got until you take it out on the water.  I rarely use mine and I am just holding onto it as a collectors piece (probably worthless since they are made in Mexico). I think there are much better options for the money. Sorry to rain on your parade.

I would not have bought the bait if wasn't that cheap. I think for $27.50 you can't go wrong. $129 ist just crazy for a bait that's made in Mexico.

How come some sink or suspend? Is it not supposed to be a floating bait? Does it have something to do with the wood Castaic used?

I think it supposed to sink. Mine sinks but doesnt swim well. Here is a great article I found after I bought mine.

One more thing, I really hate the rubber fins on this swimbait. It makes the lure look cheap.

To be a broken record:

It is garbage.

Bought 3 for $100 one time. Sold them for $180, but I would have taken $30, lol.

They all required huge amounts of tuning to get to run straight.

The action is the suck. Head knocks side to side and tail stays completely stationary.

They all had a very narrow speed range between not kicking and running on their side, with the best tuning I could give them.

I have never met/heard of/ fished with anyone who has stuck a good fish on them.

For 27.50, leave it in the box on a shelf for 30 years, see if it will be worth retail by then ;D

I received my T-29 today and it floats.

they all floated, but dove with the slightest turn of the handle.
