What to use?

Featured Replies

Hey guys I will be heading out early tomorrow morning. Temps the past two days  have been in the high 70s and low 80s the past two days. Tonight is supposed to stay above 60 all night and be 70 by 9am. What baits would you suggest I throw? I am fishing a shallow pond with weeds just starting to grow to the surface. During somewhat colder weather I have been catching bass on jerkbaits and lipless crankbaits. Not sure what water temps are but they are probably in the mid 50s. Thanks

Well, I know that you don't really fish jigs, so stick with the Red Eye Shad.

I'd suggest sticking with the jerkbaits in the morning if youve been catching them on it. Maybe try a pop r. If they do not break the surface and hit top water try something like a crawfish and if the water is clear and the grass is dark use a watermelon seed color with maybe a hint of chartreuse if the trees are budding green leaves.

Hard jerkbaits would be my first go-to. But this time of the year, the fish are moving, in preparation for the spawn. Just about anything can/does work. Don't over look spinnerbaits & Senkos either!
