scale unit conversions

I just saw an episode of "Skeeter Bass Champs" and they were having a paper tournament. One of the fish they weighed showed 4lbs 15ounces on the scale. Then the host said they had a "Four point one five pound bass" and they recorded it as 4.15lbs on the paper.

My question is: Are there scales that provide measurements in decimal form? I could have sworn it said 4 lbs 15 ounces on the scale but if there are scales that show weights as tenths and hundredths of a pound then I don't want to say I am positive because that means those guys were given 4.15lbs on the scorecard when they really deserved 4.93.

I can imagine that unit conversion has cost some people money.

I have never seen hanging scales do decimals but the normal table style yes.  Even if they did read it wrong it shouldn't really matter as long as they weighed it wrong for everyone.

I agree with TommyBass, as long as they weighed everyone's catch the same then the results would be legit.  As far as the decimals, I know there are some digital scales that use decimals and others that weight in lbs/oz. but I can't think of brands off hand.  I've also seen many table/weigh-in scales weigh in decimals also.

I have a Rapala digital, and it reads to the hundredth of a pound, not pounds and ounces.

How accurate is it?  I don't know.

One ounce equals 0.0625 pound
