I caught this fish the other day, it had line coming out the hole on its belly. I pulled the as much of the string out as i could until it wouldnt come anymore and then i cut it close to the hole leaving about .5" outside the fish. I didnt want to keep pulling and injure the fishes insides but didnt want to leave it out and have the fish get tangled on something. Was this the right thing to do? the reason i left a little out was in the hopes it would help the fish pass it if he could. heres a pic:

It sounds like you did the right thing but you also did one bad thing. Please take your nasty hairy pit out of the picture next time
