how to rig a fluke

Featured Replies

does anyone know the best way to rig a fluke i rigged it texas wieghtless and i rigged it through the head and fished it like a jerk bait is that the best way or is a split shot rig the best or?????

There really isn't a 'best' way to fish a fluke. They're probably one of the most versatile baits. You can pretty much rig them however you can imagine it. Weightless, as well as with split-shots, produce for me all the time. One of my favorites is the double fluke rig. Google it. ;)

I have the most success with a Super Fluke using a weighted swimbait hook in 1/16 oz. or 1/8 oz.

With the regular Fluke, I just use a Texposer hook.

x2 works great with a weighted hook!

With the 5" I use an EWG gammy 3/0, and rig it with the hook in the belly slot. On the 4 incher I drop down to a 1/0. I always fish them weightless. If I'm using a weight with my plastics, I would rather throw a worm or a lizard. The fluke's strength is it's slow, erratic fall that perfectly mimicks a dying fish.

If conditions allow my preference would be using a 1/16 oz jig head.

i just picked up a pack last friday.

threw it out t-rigged with an unpegged 3/8oz bullet and pulled in a small peacock bass.

thats all my input on this subject.  ;)

i loveeeee texas rigging a super fluke jr with a 3/0 ewg gama. ive had HUGE Success with useing a shad color with a red hook. i also tie in a swivel about a foot or so about the fluke. helps with the weight to get it down and with line twist. not sure if it was mentioned about the barrel swivel or not. i also have been recently trying it on a drop shot rig. hope this gives u some ideas. and i dont think theres a wrong way to rig it just like a worm!!!
