Luhr Jensen Hot Lips Express 3/4 ounce size.

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried these?  I hear it is possible to get them down 25 and possiblly 30 feet deep.

I broke the lip off one on the third cast so I can say too much. Ive got my doubts about it getting that deep only because DD22s, big FatFree Shads, Rapalas, etc only get to 16-20 feet. The lip is pretty extrordinary so I could be wrong.

BTW, I still have the body of mine. I keep it as a reminder not to throw brand new crankbaits at rocks unless its with good reason... and the bait doesnt cost much.

The 3/4 oz. Hot Lips, on a normal cast, will get deeper than any other deep diver.

Throw it on a 7'6-8' rod and 8 lb. PLine CXX and you'll hit 20-22'.

Thanks guys, one more question though.  Do they have a tight, medium, or wide wobble?

They have a tight wiggle and will get from 20 to almost 22' given a long cast with fine diameter line.   They also pull like an anchor so be prepared.   ;)

If you want a bait that will get to around the same depth with about half as much resistance on the dive, get a Poe's Competition Cedars 4500 LR.  It's like an extended lip, cedar DD22.  I've caught a lot of bass on this bait.  You can also burn it if you need to - - the Hot Lips, not so much.

One of the forum members here (Big M) makes custom deep divers that will get you into that depth as well.
