Problem finding articles on drop shotting

Featured Replies

I'm having a little problems finding a drop shot article. If there is one, could someone help me with a link? I really just need help with how to rig one up, from there I kind of like to figure things out on my own  ;D

Any advice or help is appreciated though.

Learn to use this site and you'll find out many , many differant techniques to catch fish with but you've got to apply yourself. The fishing articles have all the info you need.

Thanks for the information. And yes, I do need to familiarize myself with the site a bit more, I've been here for over two years and have only read the forums until now. I have just been intimidated, I guess, by all of the articles and how much actual info is there.

As cliche' as it is to say, try the search tool.  You'll find just gobs of great information on the site.  Drop shotting has been brought up a bunch recently.  There should be some good threads fairly close to the top of the results.

The vast majority of articles you find on drop shot fishing are derivative, i.e., lots of different authors basically covering the same ground.  Once you learn to tie a palomar knot with a long tag line, the rest is basically up to you.

Experiment with different rigs, from very light to very heavy.  Experiment with different leader lengths, from a couple of feet to a few inches.

A good for instance is what I'm experimenting with this year.  I'm fishing alot iwth a med/hvy rod and 14  lb fluorocarbon.   Using a 3/8 or 1/2 ounce weight and a4 to 6 inch leader, I'm throwing this rig in places where years past I'd throw a jig or a T-rig.  So far this year, it is outfishing the jig 10 to 1 at least.

So, anyway, my experience has been that the more you fish a drop shot, the more uses you'll find for it.

You drop shot in Louisiana????

OK, just kidding.

Google "drop shoting" and see all of the links and You Tube sites that pop up.

It is a simple method and it can be a great technique in shallow to deep water.

If you want to be fancy, tie a purple and gold jig as your weight giving you twice as much probability of catching something.

Drop shot is a super technique and you need to learn to master it, like LSU will master the SEC this year.  :)
