Any suggestions for fishing  Mass as soon as the ice is gone. ITs almost Febuary now and I just cant wait to get out there and start fishing.

If its anything like fishing here? I like throwing 6-8 foot diving cranks in about 8 foot of water. Make sure the crank is making contact with the bottom and try a nice steady slow retrieve, and when you bump a rock let the crank sit still for a second or so and then continue the retrieve. This has worked very well for me on smallmouth. Don't over look suspending and floating jerk baits and tubes. Be patient and use the lure enough to allow it to catch a fish. Don't throw it just a few times and think that the fish are not biting, they are.

I'm in western MA and it would depend on what kind of water you are fishing - lake, reservoir or river. And whether or not you have a boat or are bank bound.

Beyond that, you can't beat a drop shot with a 3" wacky rigged Senko-type worm. Blade baits, jigs and suspending jerkbaits are all productive at one time or another as well.

Since we are going to be experiencing air temps at -12 degrees tonight, I'd be very patient if I were you! Ice out is still a ways away.
