Need help with deeper water fishing

Featured Replies

I took up bass fishing the last three years mainly because I got intrigued by the skills it takes to consistently catch good bass. I am not great by no means but I am confident that I can go out to the places I fish and catch a 5lber or so each trip either on a t-rig, jig or topwater ( I dont throw moving baits much) . My question is what about those fish outside of my comfort zone of 12 ft and less? Where I fish there is ALOT of wooded structurs in depths of 15ft to 25ft. I will fish up 12-14ft occasionally on a summerged bus and fallen timber but doesnt seem natural. What do yall do in the deeper waters around structure? Do many bass hang around these places like they do shallower places? Any techniques or tips will be appreciated.

There is a lot of articles here on deep water fishing. A few of my favorites are drop shotting and jigging.

Do a search here on drop shotting. And here's an article that can get you on right path:

I'm assuming you have a good sonar and know how to use it. If not, there are many articles on this forum to help you with that too. Basically you have to find off-shore structure using your electronics. Then present them something they want. With the skills you already have, you're well on your way.

You should look for something different on the structure, wood on points, humps close to creek channel or channel turns, better fish are deep but still has to have something to hold them in an area
