Any goals or "resolutions" for this season?

Featured Replies

i have been organizing my tackle this year and to fight a cabin fever since im not ice fishing anymore this year i was thinking of some goals or "resolutions" for this season. I want to fish cranks and jigs more. i have got probably and $120 of brand new cranks that i just havnt fished or dont fish much. i got a new rod for it this year and im shying away from my old standby search bait the spinnerbait. also i want to fish jigs more this year. i nhave bought some more jigs to fish year. im not gonna pick up the senko as much unless im really getting spanked by my partners.

what about you guys?

Catch more fish.

haha ummm...definitaly plastics. Without a doubt.

Anddd....yea I think thats about it. Last season I limited myself to crankbaits and spinnerbaits. They produced but...id like to see what i can pull up with plastics.

Catch bigger fish on average!

Cash a check in a BFL tournament!

Fish jerkbaits more!

I'd like to catch a new PB, and get better at drop shot, topwater frogs (hollow body), and plastics in general. Also to fish at more lakes in my area.

Fish harder in tourneys. Stay "focused, confident on every cast."

Gonna work on jigs and spinnerbaits. Staying healthy.

I've decided to simplify my approach to fishing this year. I'm getting rid of a lot of the excess crap in my boat, and focusing on my strengths.

catch my first bass on a baitcaster :)

Hoping to trade size for numbers. Invested in a bunch of jigs and hopefully they're the answer.

My only "goal" is to catch a 13 pounder.  I'll take a bigger one too if it happens to show up.   ;D

This year I hope to focus on some techniques I don't use as often: crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits...basically reaction baits in general. Seems like I may be backwards than most as lots start with a crank/spinnerbait. I fell in love with jig fishing from the start and that has caused me to focus more on plastics/finesse techniques than anything.

I would also like to use a dropshot more. When the temp starts to climb in the summer lots of tournaments are won using a DS in deeper water. I've tried a few times but have absolutely no confidence in the technique. I think the main problem is equipment; the lightest spinning rod I have is a Med Vendetta which feels very stiff for its rating. From descriptions I've heard of good dropshot rods it seems my rod is really lacking in the lighter tip action necessary.

Document 1000 bass caught this year(currently at 124)

Beat 7.1b personal best(currently 5.0 best this year)

Win Lotto(construct my own ultimate 100 acre lake for Hawgs)

Achieve 1 of the above( :))

This year i am really going to try and NOT fall outta the boat. Also i would like very much if i could make it through a whole year without throwing my line cutter(pliers or fingernail clippers) overboard after i'm done re-tieing.

Pay more attention to whats happening on the water.  By that I mean adjusting to weather, wind, temperature, etc and not being stubborn throwing to the same thing with the same bait if its not getting the job done.

Catch a new personal best wich is gonna be hard here in New York. Also 4+ 6lb river smallies I got 3 last year and my goal was just 1 over six and I got 3 in a week. Id also like to get my wife a 6lb smallie her pb is a 5lber she got when she was 39weeks prego with our first son.

My goal is to buy no plastic for the entire season and year. It was my goal last year and I did it. I still have enough plastic to fish the entire year.

An additional goal will to be win one more tournament than I did last year.

I'm looking forward to a really hard year for almost everyone in my boat.  Because it is high time that the kids and grandkids start running the show when we hit the water.  It probably won't be pretty, but when the kids go fishing they are going to start making all of the choices.  I plan on sitting on my duff in the back of the boat this summer, and seeing if these youngsters have learned all of the lessons I've been pounding into them all these years.

And before anyone asks, I'll gladly run things when the wife goes with me.  I'm crazy, but not insane.

1. Better numbers, wayyy better numbers. I zeroed way too many times out last year. Based on the amount of research and knowledge I acquired the off season before, last year was mostly a let down. I've studied far harder this year and expect ensuing results.

2. Learn how to throw a B/C.

3. Start fishing jigs.

4. Catch my first smallie.

1. Fish often.

2. Take the grandkids fishing often.

3. Avoid fishing when it's cold or raining.

4. Have fun fishing.

5. Catch some fish.

If all of these things happen this year, I'll be satisfied.

My same goal as always , to fish more plastics.  I wonder if I'll do it this year ?

My goal is to listen to more Charlie Sheen to give myself an edge while I fish. It helps to keep away the trolls.

My goal is to catch my first 10 lb+ bass.

Also want to fish some different bodies of water.

This may sound sacrilegious but I want to diversify my fishing by mixing in more inshore and surf fishing.

After looking at how many fish and on what lures I caught them on last year.  I most definitely need to start using different types of lures.  80% of my bass were caught on plastics.  I use fish swami to keep track of days on the water.  It has really helped me over the past year.  As far as goals of course I want to beat my personal best of 8lbs 15oz. but I really want to get better with jigs, cranks, and top water this year.
