have been using a NOAA site to follow currents in Erie and sometimes they are pretty strong and obviously change direction with the wind.

Can't say I have been able to use it to catch anymore SM during our early Spring trip, but am trying. Any thoughts? thanks.

    Eire is like a big river flowing from west to east. That being said I don't think the flow is strong enough to make a difference. Wind/waves and temp is what will effect the fishing.

    Agree with Bugman.  Imagine a swimming pool with a garden hose running into it at one end and another garden hose running out the other end.  Not enough of a current to make a difference unless your right by the hoses.
