Shimano Sustain 1000 Vs Shimano Stradic Ci4F 1000

Featured Replies

Sustain ($250) vs. CI4F Reel($200)

I have had a CI4F Reel and it performed pretty flawless for me, Sustains description is top choice among professional anglers...

So I ask you guys the subtle differences of the 2.

Is the extra $50.00 worth spending?

They're both very good reels. I have them in the 2500 size, and the Sustain is a tiny bit smoother, but the Stradic is 3 oz lighter. It's a toss up, IMO.

They're both going for about $200.

I have both, and would say that if you don't mind the additional weight, the Sustain is the better reel.

I have both in the 2500 size. When im not fishing with my reel, I notice the Sustain is a bit smoother. When actually fishing, the only thing I notice is the extra weight of the Sustain. I prefer my CI4's. Now if only I could bring myself to sell my Sustain......
