  1. Spinning, preferably $250.00 or less Lighter fishing, mix of stuff:cranks, spinners, plastics, live bait
  2. Best Freshwater Spinning Rod Overall not just specifically for one technique Try to exclude rods over $300.00.
  3. I realize the IMX is the best overall, but does anyone have experience with the other 2. I have a similar post and a guy said he wouldnt consider using anything lower than IMX. So my main question is, is there a significant difference between each one. Are the GL's still quality rods or no?
  4. I realize for most light lures you can have a heavier jighead hook, but for crankbaits that are real small and lightweight how do you add distance to your cast on them? Maybe its just my rod is too small lightweight currently...
  5. Yeah I am between the President XT or Shimano Sahara
  6. Weather hasnt been that great. Its spring weather one day and winter the next. Need to get some consistency going. Possibly this coming week...
  7. What would you suggest as the best reel to match with the IMX in a Light Power
  8. I have a budget of around $300.00-$350.00 so getting both a Loomis and a top notch reel arent really feasible atm. So should i spend more on the rod or reel for now? I plan on replacing the lesser piece when I have more money. I am mostly between G Loomis GL2 GL3 IMX and Shimano Sustain CI4F. Rod will most likely be 6' 6'6 Light spinning. Any recommendations and if you suggest 1 or the other what would match well with your choice?
  9. Theres a few factors I know of for casting distance 1/ Rod Length (x) 2/ Balance (?) Does your reel size line size matchup to the rod. 3/ MOST LIKELY CAUSE lure weight needs to match your rod standards or add weight to them (?) Your lure sizes are probably somewhere around 1/4-3/4 oz.
  10. Lightweight fishing 1000 series I know the CI4F is 3 oz lighter. Sustain is probably a bit smoother overall. I hear the Sustains reel piece is a bit awkward. Sustain has spare spool. Main question is...Sustain worthy of the $50.00 extra dollars or no? Is there a noticeable increase in performance/can you notice the weight difference between the 2 greatly?
  11. Do you think I would lose alot of casting distance if I make it a 6' Light matched with a 1000 size shimano. 6 lb line
  12. Always good to have a chartreuse color. Orange is good for deeper depths.& then maybe a close imitation to the baitfish.
  13. Really depends on your amount of fishing and how hardcore you intend to be. People who's main hobby is fishing tend to spend more just like in another sport of interest. If its just an activity you have when your bored than cheaper rods will do. All rods catch fish, but to increase enjoyability more expensive rods can do that for you. Hold something like a Cherrywood next to a Gloomis and you should notice an easy difference. A $75.00 St. Croix Triumph is kindof a taste of both.
  14. 6'6 or greater MHF from what I have read length helps for lifting the Senko off the bottom. Bass are mostly gonna hit the senko when its falling, so the longer the rod the higher you can bring it up for a longer fall and the easier you can set the hook, pull in line. As far as rods do you have a price limit?
  15. Currently I am not a hardcore fisherman. I am learning alot and this is the first season I plan to devote a majority of my time to it. Based on this limited knowledge I hate to focus on 1 species of fish and lower my catching opportunites i.e just using bass sized lures. I am more interested in catching whatever is in the water and increasing my catches as well as having bass and decent sized fish surpises occasionally. My question is UL-L-ML what power do you suggest for probably a majority of smaller fish with bass being able to be caught. I am thinking that 1-16oz and 1/8oz are the most versatile lure sizes. I would also like to be able to throw 4-5" senkos occasionally.
  16. How does the G. Loomis TFO $100.00 Stack against similar priced rods? I see alot saying its moreso TFO and hardly GLoomis quality..Anyone have firsthand experience? Alot of mixed reviews on the quality of this rod and if its worth the price or better off with something like a St Croix
  17. Just small plastics,tubes,small senkos,spinners,etc. Light fishing
  18. Opinions on the best overall SPINNING ROD thats under $125.00? Best overall SPINNING REEL thats under $100.00? Pflueger President(9 bearings) a possibility?
  19. Sustain ($250) vs. CI4F Reel($200) I have had a CI4F Reel and it performed pretty flawless for me, Sustains description is top choice among professional anglers... So I ask you guys the subtle differences of the 2. Is the extra $50.00 worth spending?
  20. I cant find the IMX spinning on BPS in 6'6 UL. Theres 6'6 Light and 6' UL. Also, how was the casting distance for you?

I understand for the most part about selecting lure color but not entirely... I read that its basically following the Rainbow pattern from deepest to shallow water. Red is good at dusk/evening, while white is universal. So for clear water whats the best 2-3 colors? Dirty/ dark water best 2-3 colors? When is the charteuse/greenish blue good to use?
  22. I fish locally mostly. (Catonsville, MD) which consists of mostly Patapsaco River & Dams. With a lack of choices I am more interested in quantity of fish and the fight using light gear than using heavier gear and getting less fish. Therefore I will be fishing for gills, crappie, trout and occasional bass. I have several questions I could use to be answered but my main thing is I want a light setup that has real good casting distance with some accuracy, and also take note that I will be fishing alot of river/dam locations as apposed to open lakes, reservoirs. 1. Ultralight vs Light? What are the subtle differences? 2. Rod Size 6' or 6'6? 6' is considered well balanced for accuracy casting. 3. Does line size affect casting distance? Best line size 4 6 or 8lb mono? 4. Best 1/32 oz 1/16 oz. lures for both panfish/bass? 5. Best techniques to use?
