So like the title says I just won a TD Advantage 2500A spinning reel. But I am finding little about the reel. Anyone here have one or used one?

Reel is smooth but the retrieve speed is slower than I am used to. I also am not crazy about plastic grip on the handle.

Looking at a rod for it also. Id like to go with a med light/ fast. Something for a 6-8lb class and smallmouths.

I have used one, very nice reel, like you, I´m not crazy about the T shaped knob, reason why I prefer 2000 size ( I shape knob ), silky smooth but since you can pretty much the same smoothness in a cheaper model ( like the Exceler ) I don´t see any reason to purchase a reel that costs twice as much. The only advantage I see in the 2500 size vs the 2000 size is the larger line capacity that I could use for heavier line.

+1! In fact, I just got another Exceler 2000 in the mail today. I don't have any experience with the TD-A first hand other than playing with them at the reel counter but, you should be able to change that handle fairly easily.

I haven't had the chance to use mine enough yet, to make a comment. Other than it being smooth. The sealed drag is a big plus.

Also, I've heard parts can be interchangeable with other "Real Four" design reels, i.e. Fuego, Steez. Don't quote me on that though. But I swear I remember reading it somewhere.

I actually prefer the T-shaped knobs. It feels more secure when reeling.

The thing I don't like is the plastic t- knob. As nice as the reel is I think Daiwa could have done better here. I guess I got used to the "Tacky" Shimnao and Abu handles. The reel is very nice though, Especially for a FREE reel. Love that part. What I am finding on the web says it is good both fresh and salt. Very smooth drag. And Lasts. All big pluses. Just got to get it on a rod now.

I have the advantage in the 2000 series for fighting river smallies her in minnesota, and I love it!! I got it paired on a 7-3 Daiwa Smallmouth Specialty rod, and it is a beautiful thing to fight a fish on that combo. You'll be very pleased, and if you win another, send it my way

I got a Shimano Compre 6'-3" med. light rod that does great. I live near a wadeable river so, I did not get anything too fancy because I know it is just going to get beaten up. Notice though the Shimano tamper on the rods, a lot of backbone and light tip, make a great combo. Good luck and enjoy that new reel!

The Advantage is a very nice spinning reel. The sealed drag is great and the reel is very smooth and reliable.
