Nova Anglers

Featured Replies

I know the weathers been terrible, and with that comes tough fishing conditions. But, i believe were on the verge of the break in low temps, and fish will begin to hit hard.

Any tips for fishing 50-60degree water temps in the area atm?

Weve tried local ponds, first fish of the year was a 7" long baby bass. I should have took a pic. Other then that its just panfish hitting rubber worms.

Lake Huntsman , lots of fish on the finder, but nothing hooked that day. Missed 2.

Burke lake, havent had a bite.

I want to get out to Fountain Head, but im looking for some feedback from out area anglers? Post up if youve caught anything worthy in the area!

ive had no luck with soft plastics this year in NOVA. But what has worked for me is suspending jerkbaits and shallow diving crankbaits

That's just a sample. Look at the other posts for this area, e.g. a 6-fish, 21# sack was good enough for only 5th in the most recent Fountainhead tx.

Great fish Nitro!

Very nice fish guys. This week should really get the fish up shallow and feeding. If the rain stays on the light side the above mentioned places should really start to break loose

Nice fish Red, two quick questions.....

Mind if I ask where that was?

Secondly, what reel is that? Zooming in I could not see what it is and looking for a great new spinning reel.

thanks, that was at a private farm pond in loudoun county...

and the reel is a pfleuger trion gx-7. walmart has them for around 40 bucks i think. I've had it about two weeks now, so far so good, i like it...

Thanks Red,

Never used a pfleuger, always been a diawa or shimano man. Might need to give it a try.

Been out once, but stuck this 6.2 lb. I think i might be the only one in Virginia that does not have access to someone's private pond...

its because you were spotted in a cowboys hat in redskins country, shimmy :P;)

seriously though, people in NOVA seem to not want anyone fishing their ponds, me and my uncle have gotten turned down so many times weve lost count...

Ha! Yeh, the hat might do it.

fished the potomac a few days ago and caught several fish between 2-3 pounds on a chatterbait and a few on a red xcalibur rattletrap, great bait btw. The guy i was with saw me catching one after another on the chatterbait so he tied one on and caught a 5 pounder in the lily pads on his first cast. He didnt catch a fish after that but it was a worthwhile day none the less. The river is nasty and muddy right now, lots of stuff washing up on shore and at the ramp. be careful out there.
