Plastic Crayfish

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I got a question or two here, but let me start off with a small story.

I have a tournament coming up next Saturday on the Potomac and I got handed a free fishing magazine at work for the VA area. Well, there was an article in there about what some pros use on that river. A couple where saying use Paca Craws while I seem to prefer the Berkley Crazy legs chitter craw. That got me to thinking the Paca Craw does not have legs on it and that is one reason I prefer the Berkley, or does it really matter and I am over thinking fishing? (stupid green fish!) I mean really does it seem like the bass can tell a difference?

Anyone, know anything about the Potomac yet?

Use what you've got confidence in. :)

I now have confidence in a Paca Craw. Got a 3-1/2# on one today!

Grey Wollf gave you good advice. Both are excellent baits I think either would be fine.

I agree the Paca Craw or the Baby paca Craw are killer baits and they come in a ton of colors!

What madness is this?

I like the paca craw and the crazy legs as well.

My favorite Paca bait is the chunk though... Bitsy bug jig + Paca chunk = good combo.

Wander, yeah I have seen the Rage's there next to try on my list.

Berkley Chigger Craws and Crazy Legs Chigger Craws are both great baits. But use what you are confident with.

Yes, berkley lure has amino acids in it for scent and the legs give it a little different vibration pattern on the fall and when worked. With many lures sometimes something a little different can make a difference for example if I am catching fish and they turn off on a lure something that is like the original lure but with a different vibration or water displacement can pick up more fish that are not attacking my first bait because of fishing pressure. Changing your lure scent can also turn on fish that didn't hit on the first go round too. This doesn't mean change from one garlic scent to another brand garlic scent.

So you want to know about the Potomac?

The Potomac is a river that runs through Maryland and into Virginia.

It has a lot of water in it.

If you touch the water you will get wet.

And it does not matter what you are thinking of throwing until YOU CALL STANLEY AND SPEAK WITH HIM AND FIND OUT HOW YOU GUYS WILL BE FISHING IN THE TOURNAMENT!!! AND THEN CALL UNCLE BOB TO GET HIS TAKE ON FISHING THIS SATURDAY.

P.S. Woody and I are friends and we fish together and I just could not help myself answering his query about anyone knowing anything about the Potomac.

I agree! I've used the yum craws and they have produced for me. However you could try ripping 1 or some of the legs off to mimic a injured one. Since you have confidence with it already, it may just get you some more strikes. I've done it with Zoom lizards and its worked. Just a thought!
