Massachusetts Area

Featured Replies

Hey all. I actually live in Salem, NH but I passed a nice looking reservoir the other day called Haggetts Pond in Andover,Ma. Anyone ever fished it and is there a ramp on it anywhere? Looks like a pretty decent spot but before I drop 37.50 on a Mass. non-res license, I would like to know if its worth it.

Never heard of that pond, but there are tons of great waters to fish in Mass.. The least of which is the great Quabbin Reservoir.

I have a friend in that area and I'm almost positive he fishes there. Give me a couple of days to get some 411 for you. His schedule is a bit different from mine, so I'll e-mail him and I'll let you know.

I know what you mean about non-res fees, they're getting out of hand in all of New England. I have a friend in ME who wants me to fish with him on weekends when I'm up there. I went to ME's website a couple of months ago and I was floored. I asked "Eric, am I reading that right, ME want $80 for a non-res lic?" While wrighting this post, I looked it up and now it's $64...Still not gonna fish ME....$15 for striper fishing up there works for me.

I've been by the ramp on 133, I believe you can only take out a row boat.

Haggetts in Andover is Non motor pond, the fishing is just ok (great for kids and panfish), I've fished off the shore catching a few small bass and perch. A couple miles down the street is Martins Pond In North Reading, you can drop a boat in there and the fishing is pretty good, it's only about 6-7ft but lots of brushy untouched shoreline to fish with plenty of parking.

Thanks for the info guys. As it stands right now, i have an old 16'Sea Nymph that we put casting decks in and use a 20HP to move around which is usually plenty. I use the trolling motor more than anything anyway so no motors isnt a big deal to me although rowing is waaaay out of the question. I'll have to check out the place in N. Reading. As much as i love fishing in the home state, i dont have a lot of places around me that i can get into with my boat. I am looking for a smaller boat to throw in my pick-up but until then, the trailer will have to suffice.

Definitely check out martins in North Reading, shoot me a message when you decide to got over there and I can meet you!
