Just wondering what color crankbait works best at night time. I heard someone say a chartruesse works good at night. What does everyone use.

With cranks as with all other baits the colors I throw are the colors I like and not necessarily what the "experts" say you should be throwing.

Let me give you an example, I like to fish at night as much as anybody else, I love to fish with jitterbugs at night and day, well in theory I should use a black jitterbug, that 's what the experts say, how come my frog and white jitterbugs get as much hits as a black one ?, spinnerbaits at night ? oh yeah, black or white or firetiger, they all work at night, cranks at night ? sure ! I like Rat L-Traps and Bayou Boogies .... with exception of one black Bayou Boogie all of them are any other color than black, gotta tell you, that black Bayou Boogie has never touched the water ( incredible given the fact that is has been in my box for more than 15 years ), all the fish I catch at night with lipless cranks are caught with any color.

It doesn 't matter much what color you pick, now if you want to play safe, use black.

worry more about the vibration of the lure than the color pick lures you can feel and smash them into the bottom, stumps whatever you can to break up the vibration pattern. color is secondary to the vibration. I have used a splatter back black crank for years at night with big catches also khaki. But both of those lures hunt so both threw off more vibration than another of the same kind.

I used to believe black was the only color to go with for night fishing, and then I started learning more about striper plugging, and reading on the striper forums. Turns out black is not the only good color to throw at night, white is up there with it. The striper guys use black on darker nights, and white on brighter then average nights, like a full moon, or 3/4 moon.

white in full moon or near bright shoreline lights. dark(black) all other times

I like traps at night but when I use a crank bait I use white/shad, chart. or black.

If bass are feeding on shad at night=shad don't change colors at night it is more of a sound that they may key in on like crankbaits!As for baits like topwater then I like black baits like the jetterbug, that they can see better looking up at the bait! Black makes a better target for them!
