I don't see why not. But then again, I don't see why you would want to. If you're looking to clean your reel, a degreaser would do a much better job. I've never tried it, but would expect H₂O₂ wouldn't actually "clean" the reel of anything but bacteria.

I'm doing a complete strip down, I was just wondering if it is safe to do a pre-grease/oil application to get all the sediment off.

I heard of peroxide to clean cork grips, but never reels. Don't think it would do any good, but don't think it would hurt either.

I would think it might be too corrosive.

Never heard of using H2O2 for anything concerning fishing except as a water oxygenator for livewells, and it does a superb job there.

I doubt it would cause a problem, but chances are, you already own at least a dozen other household cleaning products that would do a far better job.

If your reels are prone to getting infections , it'll work great.
