Bangs Lake? Wauconda Illinois

Featured Replies

Anyone ever fish this lake? Got a highshcool tournament on May 13th and have never fished it. Not looking for your honey hole just a point in the right direction. Thanks.

I would take a look at www.lake-link.com and you might be able to find some information there under Illinois Fishing Reports.

Not much lake to fish. I haven't fished there in a couple years because the lake is overrun with dink bass and pleasure boaters. Don't get me wrong there are some 4-6lber but they are far and few between. Fish the docks around Wauconda Boat, the weedline from Wauconda Boat to the spillway, the docks and seawall at the "newer" condo complex at the southeast corner of the lake, the inner and outer weedlines on the east side of the lake, and the weedline along the northeast end of the lake near the park and private boat launch. If the water is high hit the channels on the north side of the lake, but if it's normal to low don't bother. There are also a couple humps just out from the spillway you can find with your electronics. I'd recommend flukes and senkos fished weightless if the weeds are in thick. Spinnerbaits will produce if the water isn't gin clear. If you throw cranks on the weed line you'll probably catch more small pike than bass(They got a 42" thru the ice this past year). Good luck.
