That best thing about being retired is being able to pick and choose which days you want to go fishing. Today isn't one of those days!

I really don't think you missed a thing. Went and looked at Hardy Pond on the Muskegon River yesterday. All of the spillways @ Rogers, Hardy, and Croton were wide open, pushing a mass of muddy sludge downstream. Throw in a heavy SE wind and there was no way I was getting out in the cold this morning. Wixom had to be just about the same so I'm pretty sure you would have just been going for a boat ride today.

It's early in the season.... Thankfully.

It was a beautiful Michigan day with mild to med wind, 54 to 57 deg surface temp. We started fishing around Noon and didn't get the first decent fish until around 3pm. Hands didn't even get cold till about 7:30pm. We ended up catching four 4 lbers with the biggest being 4.6 lbs 19.5'long. We also caught a large handful of two and three lbers though out the day...

I tried to get again today but had to call it early as the winds were just too much - gusting over 30 ! It was just un-fish able. It's early but it is MAY - so I'd appreciate it if mother nature would squeeze the breeze a little and sooner rather than later would be NICE !

Struck out at Wixom today. The water was murky, muddy and 55-56 deg. I tried slow rolling spinner baits rigged with gold blades in 8-9 feet of water, big noisy KVD 2.5 square bills slowww in 3-5, and t-rigged 7 inch black power worms in shallows, docks and banks. Mostly in a cove on the east side. 2 bites..struck out! Its the first time I've been skunked at Wixom. The main lake was rough and windy. Better luck next time. The walleye and crappie guys were struggling also.
