Fat Ika Issues

Went out today caught to many fish to remember but towards the end of the day I decided to throw my new fat ikas maybe get some confidence in them. Well I got two 1 -2lbers on it but the thing was destroyed after the first one so I re rigged but just rotated it 180 so the hook was on the other side where the gap was befor. After the 2nd fishthe thing was split like a bannana. Is this usual with these things I know there on the soft side but wow iv never had a plastic last that short of a time

They're soft to the point that I wouldn't be surprised to be going through a full pack in a day. That's not unusual for them. Find me something that matches the shimmy, the rate of fall, the way it falls, and the same colors and I'll still fish the original. When it comes tourney time and money is down, I have more faith in them than anything else.

4/0 EWG Gamakatsu. Never had a problem. Yamamoto baits are known to catch fish not be durable.

You need to use the Owner Twistlock 5132 in 4/0.

That's what I'm using and I'm able to use the same Ika for several bass. Last week I caught 7 bass with the same Ika. I'm also saving my Ika's until I place an order for Mend It.

Two words for you:

Mend It

A must for fat ikas and Yamamoto products. Heck, any soft plastic for that matter

I like Gammy ship gap hooks, but not for the Fat Ika. I've had the best results using a 4/0 Gammy EWG. A 5/0 Owner Rig-N hook is also a good choice.

You'll still go through a lot of baits when the Ika bite is on. There is no substitute for the Fat Ika.

I use 4/0 gammy ewg still one of the hardest baits for me to get a good hook set, But ya some of the bigger bass can tear them up pretty fast
