My new neighbor invited me to go Crappie fishing with him and I ahve never tried it before. What lures would you recommend? lure colors, weights, etc??? techniques???

UL setup and roaster tail, I have several different colors and sizes depends on the condition. If you want to make it easy for yourself, then just go get a dozen of minnows.

1/32 and 1/16 marabou jigs with a bettle spin type spinner(you can find both at Wallmart). Also Minnows under a float. The jigs will work under a float also.
