Alright so I've decided not to be such a cheapo and go for something a bit more high end for my first reel and rod combo. So far through research on the forums I've come to a decision between two combos the Shimano® Spirex FG Spinning Reel and 7' Rod Combo or the Pflueger President® Freshwater Spinning Combo. If you had a choice between these two which one would you pick and if you have any suggestions on any others brands I should check out please feel free and suggest away. I'm trying to keep it under $100.

i posted a similar thread asking about reels under $75.00. A lot of folks highly recommended the President for the money and value.

Thanks for the insight bro I was leaning towards that one more than the Shimano. But I also found this one which seems to be a better deal than the last two Field & Stream 7' VR-40 IM7 8 BB Aluminum Spinning Combo. Has anyone had experience with this combo? Someone recommended it when I first became a member but I am still undecisive I don't want to make a bad purchase.

The two you have listed ,I'd go with the pflueger outfit.

i've got 2 pflueger presidents and love them both...great value. you won't be disappointed..
