Oklahoma Fishing Question

Featured Replies

i am going to be in Oklahoma city this summer for my internship i have. I was there last year and found this private fishing pond and the residents were ok with my buddy and I fishing it. My question is: Do i need a fishing licenses to fish private ponds? i know in Arizona if you get caught without a licences in public or private, Fish and Game can take all your gear away and fine you.

I am so excited tho because i feel like I've learned so much in a year about bass and fishing. Last year it was all about just catching any size bass, now i feel like i got the gear to get the BIG ONES!

thanks for all the help and if you have any good place to fish, please let me know.

The following persons are exempt from the resident or nonresident fishing license:

• Resident owners or tenants, their spouses, parents, grandparents, children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses who fish in private ponds on land owned or leased by such owner or tenant

• Any person who fishes with pole and line, trotline or throw line in streams, natural ponds and mine pits in or forming the boundary of the county in which he is a bona fide resident, when using any bait other than commercial or artificial bait, blood, stink bait, cut fish, and shrimp.

So you do not need a license, just make sure that if you are going to fish on someone's pond make sure to ask first.

Thank you for finding that. Ya I know one of the home owners on the lake and he says if anyone ask, just mention his name.

Not a problem at all! Good luck out there. Post up pics of the monster.

just curious where in OKC you are. I have some land about an hour north with dynamite water to fish. I'm always looking for some new waters to fish.

Hey pondboss, I just got here to oklahoma tonight. I'm at council and the northwest express way. I'm off on sundays, and would be down to fish. Ill even drive :) I'm probably not gonna sleep much as I am too excited to go to this little private pond I fished at last summer once the sun comes up. LOL then its 6 days of work

Where is this little pond at, i would love to find it and fish it. We drove around yesterday for about 2 hours looking for ponds, but no one was home at the ones we found.
