Lake Accotink In Northern Virginia

Featured Replies

New to the Forum and pretty new to fishing. I've gotten some good tips so far but has anyone fished lake accotink or any other lakes in NOVA and can give me some tips.

That lake was drained last summer.

I lived in one of the town home complexes on that lake for two years and only fished it a couple of times. I didn't know it was drained, but even before that it was a complete waste of time. Major sedimentation problems from what I could see.

Delayed trout harvest on the creek feeding into it, though. Never fished it, but there is an article about it in this month's VA Wildlife.

Grew up fishing that lake.. still live in the same house but havent fished it in years. I'm sure you can still catch a few decent fish in there, but there are MUCH better fisheries in a very short distance. Lake Braddock, Lake Royal, Lake Mercer, all produce a lot better fish, as well as consistency.

Private.

A caught a few nice ones at Accotink a few summers ago. Haven't been there to fish since they finished dredging though!

I grew up in this area and I've gone over and fished lake accotink a few times. I've never caught anything but for the most part I try to avoid that lake. We grew up calling it lake accoSTINK. Its kind of a nasty lake.

I'm gonna try it today. Will post any catches!

Right now I go there just because its so close to my house....as the summer roles on I am going to expand my horizons. I was getting enough nibbles to want to go back and try some more with different bait. If I catch anything I will post it up.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Its much appreciated.
