Another Hunting Run Trip

Featured Replies

I didn't expect much out of the day today. We had showers on and off all day yesterday with some heavy downpours mixed in and were due for more this afternoon, but my brother and I made the trip anyway. Started out very rough. The minute we got on the water the worst thing possible happened. The foot motor had crapped out, and he forgot his transom mount motor at home. I have 2 motors myself and never would've thought to bring mine. So after paddling back to the ramp and renting a motor (55 lb thrust thank God) we finally got to hit our first area. We made our first casts about 11:30ish and fished till about 4. The water was in the mid 70's and slightly stained. Brown polarized lenses were nice to have today. We targeted standing timber in depths ranging from 1ft to 12ft. Also fished a nice beaver hut with a few fallen trees close by. I caught 10 with the biggest being 2lb 4oz, all were caught on yum dingers in the bama bug pattern. My brother landed 6 with the biggest weighing 2lbs 2oz, his were caught on stick worms in watermelon redflake pattern.

16 fish in 5 1/2 hours is pretty good. nice job, you guys fish there often?

Yea Im not arguing about the turn out. 2 lbs is my best for the year. I lost one on a jig again so I still cant manage to land a jig fish. No hits on my crank neither. I stil mad about my motor though. Thats what I get for buyin a Prowler I guess. I did get my money back which is good.

This was my first time this year. Ever since my brother told me how they make you pay a $40 lauch fee now along with your year pass, I'm not going inless my brother goes since he's a resident. I'll stick to AP hill since I live in Bowling green. It's only $20 for the year, you just have to go through a background check. I've been meaning to come and put in at hopyard. I've never bass fish on a river. I was hoping to hit the Ni more often too lol.
