New Line For Citica 100Dsv

Featured Replies

I finally pulled my rod out of storage a couple of weeks ago. It's a Citica 100DSV on a 7'3 MH-F Carrot Stick. First hook set the rod snapped just below the third eye down. E21 sent me a replacement and I noticed while servicing the reel I need to put some new line on it. I believe I have #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid on it right now, and I really liked it and never had any problems with it. After doing some reading on here I see a lot of people using braid and what not so I just wanted to see if I could get some opinions specifically for this setup. I only fish local ponds. No rocks that I've seen. Just lily pads and some grass. As far as tackle I fish a bit of everything. Thanks in advance!

If you want to try braid, peel off 50 yards of the mono and leave the rest as backing. Fill the spool with 50# Power Pro Braid and add a leader as conditions dictate. Used this way, braid costs the same as mono over time. In the meantime you get the advantage of the added strength and sensitivity.

Great advice !!!!!!!! :)

Thanks for the advice. I got it spooled up and took it out today. I love it. Just one question, and this isn't a gripe, I'm just curious. Why 50#? Is there any advantage to it as oppose to the 10, 20, 30 or 40? Thanks again.

It won't dig into itself like thinner braid does.

Your 50# braid is only 12lb diameter. If you go down to 30lb you are really into a small diameter on a baitcaster. I have three Citica 100DSV's and I use 14 and 10lb floro on all three. Love it.
