Going to be in Long Beach, NY this weekend. Any fishing to be done nearby if I have a couple of hours? Salt or freshwater, doesn't matter.

If its salt...big surf rods or inshore gear? What kind of rigging and bait?

Also, I've heard you don't need a license for saltwater in NY...is this true?

I live on long island and im almost positive that there so bass fishing from may 1st till the 1st sat in june(it sucks) as for salt water i believe that you need a license even tho i bet 95% of people that go to jones beach dont have one.

Salt, no license. They just did away with it. Freshwater bass is closed until June first. No fishing, no catch and release. The jetties in long beach have been getting some stripers. Do a search for bay park fishing station and causeway bait and tackle, they have reports or you can call them up and ask questions. Also sone party boats in point lookout and Freeport for stripers and fluke.

yeah as backwater said go to causeway and ask them they will help you with everything, tell you bait(or lures) where to go, and where the fish are biting
