what type of lure do you recommend to immatate alewives?

got a a ton of alwives in my lake and just wondering if anyone uses some cranks or jerkbaits to immitate them or just goes with a generic crank bait

If it acts like food , they'll eat it.

It depends what depth, what cover, etc.  Lucky Craft's Aurora Black is a pretty good imitator.  Norman's Lavander Shad is another.  Super Flukes in Albino is another good color.  You can also use the markers to add highlights, especially the purple and green highlights I see on many local alewife.

depth would probably be about 12-15ft and its open water more or less. place is like a large dish. but the bait are poppin every where so i want to get some lures for fishin at the depth the fish shoullllllllllld be haha.

Also toss some MS American Shad.  They seem to replicate ANY species of baitfish.
