Question about Crawfish Crankbaits

Featured Replies

Im talking about regular crankbaits, shaped like all other fish imitating crankbaits.

The question I have is if a Crawfish swims backwards, then why do tackle manufacturers make crawfish cranks that appear to be swimming forward.

Whats the reasoning behind this and why is it successful?

don't know but this last fall i caught most of my(crankbait) fish off of that color crankbait .

I've wondered that myself.

I don't think it really matters.  I believe that as long as it is digging into the bottom and it has a paint scheme of a crawfish I honestly believe that the bass don't notice which way it is swimming.

Their simply working with the shape of the bait.

And then you have these....

Rebel Craws

Koppers

All of then catch fish.

Unless you're just stitching the bait across the bottom I don't think it really matters where the eyes or claws are located. As long as the fish are eating dads' and you're in the right spot, a crank that mimics the colors of those dads will catch those fish. It's a reaction bait and they don't have the time to count segment lines or locate the eyes and claws, they either eat or don't.
