Fishing Blister

Featured Replies

I was fishing with a new Vendetta last night throwing Rage Toads. It was the first time I'd fished this rod hard since I just got it in the off season. Anyway, I develped a blister on the middle finger of my rod hand. It wouldn't be an issue but I am fishing in a club tournament on Friday evening and plan to fish the same way. Does anyone know of any special tape or something that I could wrap around my finger or the rod handle to cushion it a little until I can build up a callus? I think a band-aid will end up falling off after a few hundred casts. Thanks in advance.

id put a small pin hole in the blister to pop it if you havent and squeeze all the puss out. a bandaid probably would be sufficient enough, and if it does fall off after a few hundred casts just put on a new one...

Pin hole, drain, rinse in alcohol, and hit it with New Skin: http://www.amazon.com/NEW-SKIN-LIQUID-BANDAGE-BOTTLE/dp/B0006GDBT0

New Skin stings like heck, but it'll work.

I've been playing drums for 30+ years....got a ton of experience with callouses and blisters.

I do just as above and and put a small bandaid over the blister to coushen and absorb any gunk, then a wrap or 2 of Duct Tape to keep it clean, and allows the surface to stay smooth. Grey (not sure about Gorilla) Duct Tape's glue has anti microbial properties and is commonly carried by hikers, x-terra athletes, etc. for blisters.

Good luck on the tournament!

You can also buy stuff called moleskin and put it over the blister as well its what I use when at drills and I get blisters after long road marchs exept iv learned to put mole skin on befor not after but either way will work

i remember seeing some thing on a cabelas fly fishing catalog exactly for that purpose but i don't remember the name.

New Skin / Tough Skin...... If you need it fast, check out your local bowling center pro-shop.
